The current system in the Federal Circuit Court is that all matters will go before our three Duty Judges. Your matter will be assessed by these Judges and then your matter may be assigned to another Judge of the Federal Circuit Court. Your Judge will issue directions and make Orders that will be in the Best interest of the child or be just and equitable if your matter is regarding a property matter.
The Judges are experienced and should be respected. When entering a court room and the Judge is seated at the front of the court a person must bow slightly towards the bench. A person in a court room must address the Judges as “Your Honour”, never over speak a Judge, and at all times a person must be respectful. The best thing a person can do for their matter to progress is to educate themselves in Court etiquette. This can be done by speaking with their Lawyer, or if self-representing: attending an open session at the Court and sitting quietly in the back of the court room and observing how the court process works.
