2020 and beyond

So a new year has begun and we may put a thought to new year resolutions or perhaps challenges and goals. For me personally I prefer to think challenges. Its fun just in the planning. But why stop at this year I want to set myself challenges not just for this year but beyond 2020.

First Challenge write 2020 and not 2019 when I write the date. Still working on that one. We are also advised that shortening the year is not advisable on documents as people can change the date to what the want, so 2020 in full it shall be.

Second Challenge – keep writing posts that engage people. Posts that are educating about Family Law. Posts that talk about decided caselaw (casenotes) that may assist people with similar issues. This can be insightful when facing a court system that may make the decisions in your family’s life. Post articles that may also provide insight into the changes that the Family Court is facing.

Third Challenge – Taking time out for me, this is something we all tend to neglect particularly when we are faced with life stressors. We are important. For the parents if we can smile and be happy then our children can smile and be happy. Seeking help for many is a hard step, for me as well. I use family when I am down and talk to colleagues. Perhaps I share a little too much with my clients however the truth is family law is a road filled with potholes. I am not only the legal guide to my clients but an ear to listen and a hand to reach out to when the pothole is too big.

Fourth Challenge is to keep working on making Do it yourself resources available to people that want to manage their own legal situations. To have guides for self representing people to have access to the steps that may help them. To create webinars and easy to follow courses where education is the key to managing family law matters.

For me personally Nashville. I want to finally find the time to go to the US and visit Nashville, preferably around the time the country music awards are on. Is this realistic? Possible but it makes me smile to think that sometime I may get there. What if I don’t? Well think of the smile that comes to my face when I imagine walking into a stadium of a favourite artist or two with like minded people. Will it happen this year? Doubtful but hey who knows. I prefer to maintain this dream and make it a challenge.

2020 bring it on 🙂
